Rebecca Nelson, 60, entered into rest on March 8, 2011 in Manteca, California. She was born on March 15, 1950 in Harrison, Arkansas to the late Mr. and Mrs. T.G. & Irene Gibbs. Rebecca joins her parents in heaven as well as her sister Cuba Gibbs.

 Ms. Nelson is survived by her loving daughter Tracie Jurado of Manteca and her son-in-law of Manteca Christopher Jurado. She was blessed with two beautiful granddaughters Julia Jurado of Manteca and Mariah Jurado of Manteca. She has four siblings; Mike Gibbs of Jackson, Charles Johnson of Antioch, Frank Davi of Antioch and Betty Gibbs of Arkansas. In addition, Rebecca has three nieces and one nephew; Tasha Gibbs of Sacramento, Tonya Marquez of Sacramento, Susan Davis of Florida and Anthony Gibbs of Manteca.

 Rebecca was a resident of Manteca for 28 years. Before Manteca, Rebecca lived in the Bay Area where she worked as an insurance adjuster. When Rebecca moved to the valley she went to work at Ace Hardware as a sales associate for over 6 years. She loved working at Ace Hardware as she commonly said “It was her favorite job because she loved talking to people.” After, Ace Hardware Rebecca went back to school and graduated from U.O.P. with her Associates degree in Substance Abuse Counseling. As a counselor Rebecca found her job extremely rewarding. She loved helping others in their time of despair, shedding light and hope on their lives. She was a member of A.A. – Back to Basics – Home Fellowship in Manteca. Rebecca absolutely loved traveling. Some of her favorite places where Mexico especially Cancun, cruises, camping, and RVing all around the United States. Rebecca loved the beauty of the sun; no matter where she went she was always found sunbathing. She adored her fellow companion “Christy” which was her Shih Tzu dog and her best friend. Rebecca touched many lives as she was known where ever she went as the “Hugger” she was always willing to hug a lost soul with no judgment. Rebecca will be missed for her infectious laugh, her joyful spirit, and her zest for life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ms. Nelson’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. A celebration memorial will be held on her birthday Tuesday March 15, 2011 at noon at Chez Shari’s (at Manteca Golf Course) 305 N. Union Road, Manteca.
