Richard “Dick” Earle Brown passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021 in Manteca, California with his daughter and son-in-law by his side.  Dick was a caring father and grandfather. He was born on November 9, 1934 in Portland, Maine.
His parents moved to New York City where he spent his youth, then Pismo Beach where he attended Arroyo Grande High School and graduated there in 1953. After graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force where he served for 4 years. He was stationed at Mt. Magazine in Arkansas when he went into town and there, he met his wife, Rose Mary. They were married in Paris, Arkansas in 1956 and celebrated 62 years of marriage before her death in 2017. They had three children and raised them in Ione after moving there in 1966.
Dick worked for Aerojet Corporation for 33 years before retiring in 1990. After his retirement from Aerojet he worked various jobs, including working at Jackson Rancheria in the counting room and was the town notary in Ione for many years. He had a “boys luncheon club” he belonged to where they would meet up once a week and go to different restaurants in the area for lunch as well as meeting up with old friends for coffee each morning. He loved documenting everything on his computer keeping the family up to date on any important information. He and Rose Mary also loved to travel, especially taking cruises but their most adventurous trip was to Costa Rica.
Dick is preceded in death by his wife, Rose Mary (Moore) Brown, his parents, LaForest Brown and Goldie (Gilberta) Brown; and his step-mother Laura (McCarthy) Brown. He is survived by his children, Robert Brown, Janet Heupel (James), Katherine Verdin, his grandchildren, Erin Gorham (Mike), Jaime Cordero (Chad), Casey Honeywell (Craig), Dana Fitschen (Erich), Devan Laimond (Colton), Ryan Brown (Chelsea), Natalie Sanders (James), Nicole Brown (Javier), Matthew Heupel (Megan), Hailey Verdin, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Dick will be missed for his sarcastic sense of humor and all the jokes he told.      A graveside memorial will be held on Friday, May 7, 11:00 a.m., at the Ione Cemetery followed by a reception at the VFW Memorial Hall in Ione. Condolences can be sent to the family by visiting www.danerimortuary.com and signing the guest book.
