Robert “Bobby” Davis, 82, entered into rest on May 8, 2010 in Stockton, California. He was born on January 27, 1928 in Manteca, California, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe and Ida Davis.

Bobby joins his wife in heaven Nellie LaVena Davis, and his daughter Barbara Kirk, as well as his siblings Alice Andrada, Art Davis, Bill Davis and Frank Davis.

Mr. Davis is survived by his beloved daughters; Connie Davis of Lathrop and Michelle “Shel” White and husband Michael of Stockton. He was blessed by 11 grandchildren; Richard Elizarraraz and wife Joii, Peter Melendez, Jami Elizarraraz and husband Mark, Somber Melendez, Kristin Elizarraraz, Shannon Sobaszkiewicz, Marjorie Trevino, Julie Howet and husband Steve, Lori Ake and husband Robert, David Morrison and wife Darlene, and Chris Settlemyre and wife Christa. He was a very special great-grandfather to 18 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. In addition Bobby had one surviving sister Bernice Woodside of Lathrop and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Bobby retired as a chemical operator after 50 years of service from Bonawits Chemical Plant which later became Henkel. While working as a Chemical Operator Bobby also worked at various bars  over a span of 27 years as a bartender. Bobby met many different friends throughout his years bar tending in Manteca at The 14 Club, Gene’s, and The Manteca Club. He loved his animals, which were his true companions, “Charlie and the late Tully.” He enjoyed his walks along the river, gardening, fishing and frog gigging. He was a huge supporter of his country being extremely proud of serving in the United States Navy serving two tours. Bobby loved socializing and telling stories to family and friends as he would talk to just about anyone who would listen. He was a huge jokester as he lived life to the fullest. Bobby was the rock of his family, always loving and supporting everyone in all of their dreams and goals. Bobby will be remembered as a loving father, an amazing grandfather and a wonderful friend. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Mr. Davis’ services are being handled by P.L .Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2010 from 1 to 7 p.m. held at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 2 p.m. also held at P.L. Fry & Son. In lieu of flowers donation can be sent to The Kidney Foundation.
