   Roberto C. Lopez, 80, entered into rest on Monday, October 20, 2014 in Manteca. He was born on May 24, 1934 in Durango, Mexico.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years Brigida Lopez of Manteca.  His children are Nick Rodriguez (Trisha) of AZ, Frank Rodriguez (Maria) of Manteca, Connie Lopez-Ellis (Shane) of Manteca, Alex Lopez (Mona) of Manteca and Robert Lopez of Fresno. He was blessed with 15 grandchildren, Mirella Pantoja, Nikki Ramirez, Juanita Andrews, Miguel Rodriguez, Alexandra Rodriguez, Davina Davis, Carisa Rodriguez, Beto Lopez-Ellis, Gabriel Lopez, Xavier Lopez, Nick Lopez-Ellis, Michael Lopez, Nick C. Rodriguez and Marissa Lopez. In addition he has numerous great grandchildren. Roberto has five surviving siblings, Guadalupe Lopez of Mexicali, Lala Johnson of Rancho Cucamonga, Isidro Lopez of Maywood, Hermelinda Cabadas of Pomona and Margarita Rangel of Bell Gardens.
   Roberto immigrated to Manteca at the young age of 17 from Mexico. He worked numerous years for the Hat Brothers Family as a field laborer. Roberto then went on to work at Eckert Cold Storage as a Maintenance Supervisor, from where he eventually retired after 41 years of service.  He was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed tinkering in his tool shed, fixing his children, grandchildren, as well neighborhood children’s bicycles.  He was involved in every aspect of his children’s lives, keeping them active in sports as young children. Throughout the years he enjoyed watching his sons, daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren play little league baseball, soccer, and various high school sports. He loved his grandchildren and was their number one fan when it came to sports, always cheering them on to victory! He was passionate about baseball and football, The Giants were always number one and the 49’ers never let him down. His greatest accomplishment was his family and becoming a Unites States Citizen in 1995. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and cherished grandfather. He will be missed. 
   P.L. Fry and Son is honored to serve the Lopez family. Visitation will be on Sunday, October 26, 2014 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm with a Rosary to follow at 5:00 p.m. at P.L. Fry and Son, 290 North Union Road, Manteca. Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, October 27, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 505 East North Street, Manteca. He will be laid to rest at St. John Catholic Cemetery, Escalon, CA.
