Roger Allen Woltjer age 75, of Ripon, California passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 16, 2016. Roger was born on June 11, 1940 in Almont, Michigan, son of the late John Woltjer and mother Ann Woltjer Jager, still living.
He moved with his parents and siblings from the family farm in Imlay City, Michigan in 1958, to Ontario California, where he worked alongside of his father as a landscape gardener. Later he gained employment at the Artesia Cemetery, working with his uncle for 33 years. He was a loyal and dependable employee. Roger will long be remembered for his friendliness and his uncomplaining attitude. He cheerfully accepted the amputation of his leg and willingly showed curious children how it worked.
His last years were lived out at the Bethany Christian Home in Ripon where he made many friends.
He is survived by his mother Ann Woltjer, brother; Lou (Julie) Woltjer , Shirley (John)Wind, Carl (Opal) Woltjer, Larry (Bev) Woltjer, Donna (Craig) Hartwig, and many nephews and nieces.
Flowers should be omitted.
Memorial donations may be made to your favorite organization or charity. A memorial service will be held in the Bethany Home Manor. Date to be decided later.
