Ronnie Berna, 68, of Tracy passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2013 at home in Tracy with his family at his side. Ronnie was born August 11, 1944 in Carnegie, Oklahoma. He was the third of three children to Alfred and Janetta Berna. Ronnie left Oklahoma at the young age of four when his family moved to Manteca; where he attended both elementary and high school, graduating from Manteca High in 1963.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, having been wounded in 1968 he received the Purple Heart and numerous medals. Ronnie work many years at H.J. Heinz Cannery in Tracy as a line mechanic in the labeling department. 

Ronnie cherished his family and friends dearly and looked forward to having gatherings and BBQs for all to attend. He loved taking Caribbean cruises, traveling cross country in his RV and camping trips to Fort Bragg and Darnell’s camp sites.

Ronnie is survived by devoted wife Freddie, of Tracy, CA; brother Kenneth Berna and wife Marty of Shingle Springs, CA; sister Phyllis Rawlings of Carnegie, OK; two children Kathy Leyva of Modesto and Ronnie Berna of Vancouver, WA, and four treasured grandchildren. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, his favorite nephew Dewayne Rawlins and Mr. Bud, his little dog that never left his side. 

Mr. Berna was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Janetta Berna.

Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 South Central Avenue, Tracy, is honored to serve the Berna Family. They will be welcoming family & friends on Friday, April 5th from 2-7:00pm for visitation. Graveside Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 6th at Tracy Public Cemetery.
