Rose Blanco, 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Crows Landing to Joseph and Emily Pacheco and graduated from Patterson High School in 1947. In 1953 she married her beloved husband Stephen Blanco and moved to Escalon where she resided for the remainder of her life. Rose enjoyed a 25-year career with the US Postal Service. In her retirement years Rose and her family enjoyed traveling extensively to destinations such as Hong Kong, Ireland, Portugal and the Caribbean. She also held membership in numerous clubs including the Ghost Riders Motorhome Club, the Red Hat Society, Cabrillo Civic Club, and the YLI of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Rose is preceded in death by her parents, husband Stephen, sister Mabel and brother Joe. She is survived by her children, Bob Blanco and his wife Michelle of Atwater, Cathy Scott and her husband Ray, Shirley Hoover and her husband Ron, Tom Blanco and his wife Estela, and Sharon Caldwell and her husband Steve, all of Escalon. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and numerous extended family members.
A rosary service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 7:30 p.m. St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Highway 120 in Ripon/Escalon, and the funeral will be held at the same location on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at noon. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Community Hospice at 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356, or The Stephen and Rose Blanco Memorial Scholarship Fund, which benefits Escalon High School athletes, in care of Guaranty Bank, Escalon Branch at 3380 McHenry Avenue, Escalon, CA 95320.
