Rose Teresa Souza, 80, entered into rest on July 1, 2011 in Modesto, California. She was born on October 9, 1930 in Merced Falls, California to the late Mr. and Mrs. Antone and Mary Souza. She is preceded in death by siblings; Mary Gloria Souza and Anthony Souza and her three nephews; Jimmy Orlando, John Souza and Tony Souza Jr.

Ms. Souza is survived by her one sister Marian Orlando of Manteca and one sister-in-law Jean Souza of Ripon. Her beloved nieces and nephews are; Beverly Eavenson of Manteca, Marilyn Lee of Manteca, Renee Woolf of Manteca, Joyce Souza of Alverta, Robert Orlando of Ripon, David Souza of Ripon and Steven Souza of Ripon. In addition Rose has numerous great- nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

Rose retired after 35 years of service from Sharp Army Depot in the financing department. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church where she was a devout catholic. Although Rose was not a wife herself, she was member of Sharp Army Wives Club to support the veteran’s and their wife’s. She was also a member of many local Portuguese clubs. Rose loved to travel, her favorite destination was Europe. She enjoyed spending time with friends, playing cards, and shopping. She appreciated at great meal as she loved eating out at her favorite restaurant “The Waterloo.” Rose loved spending time with her family. Her nieces and nephews meant the world to her; they were like her children and grandchildren. Her sisters were her best friends as she loved to involve in all of her social activates and outings. Rose will be remembered as a fashionable lady who was loved by all who knew her. She will be missed.

Ms. Souza’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 6, 2011 from 1 to 5p.m. held at P.L. Fry 290 N. Union Rd. Manteca. A Rosary/Mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church 525 E. North St. Manteca on Thursday July 7, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at St. John’s Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to The American Cancer Society 207 East Alpine Avenue Stockton, CA 95204 or The Manteca Historical Society P.O. Box 907 Manteca, Ca 95336.
