Rosella Lucille Baker, 84, passed away peacefully at home in Manteca on October 11th, 2013, held in the loving arms of her youngest son, John.  She was tenderly cared for by her husband and daughter, Vicki, on a daily basis. 
   Rosie was born in Hutchinson, Kansas, February 3rd, 1929, the first child of Ethel Fern and Clarence Irwin Gnagy.  She was a longtime resident of Hayward and Union City, where she raised nine children, worked as a retail clerk and retired as a Realtor.
   She was best known for her love of people, limitless generosity and thoughtful spirit, which morphed into yearly Christmas parties where she rented a hall, a Santa and Mrs. Claus, had gifts for every child, cooked her famous recipes and invited everyone she knew and had met that year!
   An amazing woman, wife, mother of 10, grandmother of 29, great-grandmother of 31, aunt, cousin to dozens, sister and friend to countless.  She has left her gentle compassionate spirit with all.
Preceded in death by her parents, Ethel and Clarence Gnagy, sister, Marilyn Jenkins, daughters, Karen Kay Hodges and Cathy Baker, grandchildren, Chad James Hodges and Sabrian Schader.
   Survived by husband, of 49 years, Jerry Baker; children, Paul and Pat Hodges, Jim and Pam Hodges, Sharon and Bob Licon, Shirley and Kelly Stewart, Sandi and Kim Laursen, John and Jan Hodges, Debbie and Roger Flores, Vicki Baker; and brother, Irwin “Bud” Gnagy.
   Graveside services were held Friday, October 18th, 10:00 am, Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 at Harney, Lodi.
Officiating is Carol Cassady, Chaplin.
