Ruth A. (Hopmann) Gibson, 76, entered into rest on November 28, 2012 in Ripon, CA. She was born on May 29, 1936 in Deshler Nebraska to the late Theodore and Laura Hopmann. She joins her parents in heaven as well as her beloved husband Robert Gibson, her grandson John Robert Gibson and her siblings; Harold, Mildred and Janet Hopmann.

Mrs. Gibson is survived by her four children; Lisa Johnson (Roger), Debra Neal (Dave), John Gibson (Jennifer), and Robert Gibson Jr. (Julia). She was blessed with 9 surviving grandchildren Kyle, Travis, Brandon, Tyler, Wesley, Robert III, Laura, Elizabeth, and Curtis. She has one sister Marcella Rose.

Before retirement Ruth worked as a Teachers Aid for MUSD working at Stella Brockman School and Shasta School in the Special Education Department. Ruth grew up in Church where her family was very instrumental at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Orange, CA. In 1979 Ruth moved to Manteca where she and her husband became members of the United Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling, piano music, and spending time with her family. She was a simple lady; always content when surround by her children and grandchildren, they were her world. She was adored by her many friends would describe her as a strong, sweet, loving lady. Ruth will be remembered for her caring heart that was always displayed towards others. She will be missed. P.L. Fry & Son is honored to be serving the Gibson family. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at P. L. Fry & Son Funeral Home 290 N. Union Rd. Manteca. She will be laid to rest at Fairhaven Cemetery in Santa Anna on Saturday December 8 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a memorial service at St. John’s Lutheran Church154 South Shaffer Street Orange, CA. at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the American Cancer Society 207 East Alpine Avenue Stockton, CA 95204.
