Ruth Arnold Gill, 94, entered into rest on February 20, 2009 in Manteca. She was born to Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence and Clara Arnold on September 11, 1914 in Winton, California. She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Jack Gill and her siblings; Paul Arnold, Mae Dilley, Frank Arnold, and Howard Arnold.

Ruth is survived by her loving children Marjorie Patzer and husband Philip Hall of Manteca, Shirley Golightly of Concord, and Barbara and husband Sal Salerno of Modesto. She was blessed by 7 grandchildren; Cheryl, Chris, Craig, Eric, Matthew, Christina, Laura; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Ruth was a resident of Merrill Gardens for the past 2 years. Before moving to Manteca she was a lifetime resident of Atwater. Ruth graduated from Livingston High School and then went on attending Fresno Business College. She was a school secretary for Winton Elementary for over 25 years before retirement. She was a member of Atwater United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, The Good Sam Group RV Club and The Winton Old Timers. She was active volunteer at the Public Library in Atwater and volunteered preparing taxes for seniors. She enjoyed gardening and bowling. Ruth was very hospitable to friends and family. She often provided rides to doctor appointments and church for many people. Ruth will be remembered as a very loving and independent woman.

Mrs. Gill’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. Services will be held on February 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church 2550 Linden Street, Atwater, California, 95301. Memorial gifts may be sent to Atwater United Methodist Church or to Hospice of San Joaquin.
