Ruth Helen Erwin, 88, entered eternal rest on December 16, 2020 in Manteca CA.  She was born on May 30, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Benjamin and Evelyn Heiges.  In heaven, she joins her loving husband of 49 years, Kenneth Erwin, her parents, two brothers and first-born child, Benjamin Erwin.
She leaves behind her children, Timothy Erwin and wife Grace of Alameda, and Sarah Oblin and husband Jacques of Manteca.  In addition, she was blessed with five grandchildren, James Duncan, Elizabeth Duncan, Emma Erwin, Monica Oblin, and Megan Oblin.  Ruth has one surviving sibling, Helen Strain of Orlando, Florida.
Ruth was a resident of Manteca since 1962 when she came out from Toledo to help open the LOF glass factory in Lathrop.  With the birth of her children, Ruth left LOF and devoted herself as a mother returning to the workforce after her children were older.  She was involved in service organization including Eastern Star and the Kiwanians for many years.  She believed in giving back to her community.  Ruth enjoyed cooking, gardening, and enjoying time with her family.  Everyone who knew her described her feistiness, great laugh and beautiful smile.  Ruth will be remembered as a loving wife, wonderful mother, and a special grandmother.  She will be greatly missed, but her memories will live long in the hearts of all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of San Joaquin who provided her with compassionate care.  Due to current COVID restrictions, services will be private.
