Born in Wayne, Nebraska, in 1932 to Floyd and Sara Kingston, Sally passed peacefully surrounded by her family on June 19, 2009.


Sally attended Oregon State University where she was a proud member of the Phi Beta Phi Sorority. She graduated with a BA in Education from San Jose State.  She started her teaching career in Davis, California, while her husband Max attended Veterinary School at UC Davis.  Upon his graduation they settled in Escalon where Sally taught at Lone Tree and Dent Elementary Schools. She later went on to own a gift and collectable store named Sally and Marie’s Specialty Shoppe located in Modesto.  After retirement she moved from Escalon to Modesto.   She volunteered as a poetry teacher for Agnes Baptist School and worked as a volunteer ombudsman.


Sally is survived by her four children: Kary Lynn Piper (Bruce) of Roseburg Oregon, Janet Anne Wickstrom (Bruce) of Modesto, Mary Sara Lenore Johnson ( Wade) of  Manteca,  John Palmer of Modesto and her sister Lee Willoughby of Pacific Grove, California. She is also survived by her five grandchildren:  Ashley and Julie Piper, Brent Wickstrom and Ainsley and Nolan Johnson.


A Celebration of Life will be held at Crossroads Grace Community Church in Manteca on Friday, June 26, at 2:00 p.m.
