Sam Nickerson, 83, died on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, after a short illness. He was a resident of Salida for 54 years. He was born on Dec. 20, 1927 in Grove, OK and lived in Stanislaus County for 60 years. He served as a 2nd Class Fireman in the Navy from 1946 to 1947. He worked as an electrician and was a member of the IBEW Local 684 for 57 years. He was a member of the Manteca Horsemen’s Association.
He is survived by his son, Sammy Nickerson of Salida; and daughter, Bunny Nickerson of Reno; five granddaughters; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives.
Now in heaven, he joins his wife of 62 years Ruby.
Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 18, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Big Valley Grace Church in the Fireside Room, 4040 Tully Road, Modesto.
