Sammy Hernandez, 65, entered into rest on January 25, 2013 in Manteca, CA. He was born on October 10, 1947 in Lodi., CA. He was a life time resident of Manteca and Lathrop.
Mr. Hernandez is survived by his wife of 45 years Madeline Hernandez. He has two sons Sammy Jr. and Steve Hernandez. His siblings are Jessie and Frank Hernandez and Nancy Stewart. In addition Sammy has numerous nieces, nephews and grand children who he loved dearly.
Sammy grew up in Manteca attending local schools, graduating from Manteca High School in 1965. He was an electrician for over 30 years. During his employment he worked for Spreckles Sugar and retired from UOP. After retirement Sammy owned his own handy man service “Big Sam the Handy Man.” He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of Manteca. He was also a member of the Wildlife Refuge in Tracy and The Undertakers Auto Club of Lathop. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors in general. Sammy’s life revolved around sports. He loved going on day trips to local casinos, always hoping to hit the “Big One.” He was a huge fan of any sport his nieces, nephews and God-children were involved with. He was well respected and loved by his family, friends, and clients. He had a wonderful sense of humor as his infectious funny personality never went unnoticed. Sammy will be remembered as a good, honest and polite man who loved his family dearly. He will be missed dearly.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. followed by a vigil at 6:00 p.m. held at P.L .Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca. A prayer service will be held the following day, February 1, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. also held at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
