Our beloved father Samuel Edmond Bynum left us on July 2, 2010.

He was 81.

Ed was born January 4, 1929 in Washington, McClain Co., Oklahoma to Guy & Cassie Bynum.

He was lucky to have survived his birth in those days,  because he weighted only about 3 pounds at birth.  He was so small that they could put him a shoe box.  When he was young the family packed up everything into a truck & moved from Oklahoma to California. He said  the trip to California was like the movie “The Grapes of Wrath”.

Ed is preceded in death by his wife Wanda Eldee Bynum. He will be dearly missed by his five children.  Michael & Diane Bynum of Ripon,   Gail & Al Due of Escalon, Nancy & Jerry Blosser of LeGrand, Steve & Joyce Bynum of Modesto,  Tamara & Jeff Delgado of Ripon, his eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He will also be missed by his brother & sisters, Bobby & Barbara Bynum, Mona & Gino Pedretti  & Joyce Shearer.

His favorite things to do in life where camping, fishing, traveling,  tinkering around the house & playing pool at the fire department.  He started working for Nestles Coffee Plant  in 1947 & then worked for the  Ripon Fire Department for 26 years.  He was Ripon Fire Chief for some of those years.

The family is holding a private service.

A celebration of Ed’s life with family & friends will be on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Ripon Fire Department.

Remembrances can be made to the Ripon Fire Department.
