Samuel Louis Ulibarri was born Sept. 3, 1926, and passed away Jan. 6, 2009 at home in Petaluma.
He was the devoted husband of Kay Ulibarri for 40 years, adored father of Randy Ulibarri (wife Kathy), Gary Ulibarri (wife Mary), Anthony Ulibarri (wife Norma) all of Manteca, Kathy DeClercq (husband John) of Concord, Karen Durand (husband David) of Phoenix, Robin Dickson (husband Bob) of Rohnert Park, and Michael Trindle of San Bruno; and father-in-law of Pat Ulibarri of Milpitas.
He is also survived by grandchildren Richard Ulibarri of Milpitas, Michael Ulibarri (wife GiYung) of Korea, David Ulibarri of San Luis Obispo, Andrew Ulibarri of San Jose, Amy and Daniel Ulibarri of Modesto, Ashley and Thomas Ulibarri of Manteca, Billy DeClercq (wife Nicole) of Pasadena, Shana DeClercq (wife Deborah) of Oakland, Marissa DeClercq of Pleasant Hill, Brian and Mark Robberson of Phoenix, Robert Trindle of Irvine, Benjamin, Timothy and Matt Lucas of Rohnert Park, Theadora and Elizabeth Trindle of San Francisco, He was great grandfather of  Noah Salsedo of Modesto and Spencer DeClercq of Pasadena.
He is also survived by his sister, Mary Hammell of San Jose and brother, Earnest Ulibarri of Denver, Colorado.  He was preceded in death by son, Richard Ulibarri and brothers, Paul and Leonard Ulibarri and sister, Theresa Chavez.
Sam’s grandchildren think he is 9 feet tall and can walk on water. He is very much loved by all of his family and friends and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Sam was a member of St. James Parish, YMI Council #9, Knights of Columbus Council #1586 and St. Ignatius Loyola Assembly No. 2978 (4th Degree).
Friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. James Catholic Church, 125 Sonoma Mountain Parkway, Petaluma on Wednesday, Jan. 14, commencing at 11 a.m. A Vigil Service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 7 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 13, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary & Crematory, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. (763-4131). Private inurnment.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities or your favorite charity.
