Sara G. Mendoza was born on March 23, 1937 and passed away from a long struggle of congestive heart failure on March 26, 2020.
Sara was born to Esther Sias Ovando and Valentine Ovando. She was the sixth of twelve children and grew up in French Camp Where she attended French Camp Grammar School and then Manteca High. Sara married Fedencio Mendoza and had three daughters, Christina Mendoza, Lisa LePorte and Lorenza Davison. She worked for Eckert Cold Storage for many years. Upon retirement, she faithfully volunteered at Manteca Convalescent Care home for many years. Sara has many friends in Manteca, many of who knew her by the many walks she took through town. Besides her three daughters, Sara leaves behind her beloved sisters, Angels Montanez, Esther G. Ovando, Mary Ellen Creasey, Teresa DeRuiter, Lupe Abrego and one brother, Alfred Herrera (Sharon ZimmermanHerrera). She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Sara was predeceased in death by her parents, Esther and Valentine Sr., and her siblings Valentine Ovando, Carmen Montanez, Frank Ovando, Alex Ovando and Dorothy Herrera. Sara was loved by all who knew her and is sorrowfully missed She will be laid to rest next to her beloved niece, Esther Louise Ramos, who also recently past away. They were the best of friends.
A graveside service will be on June 19, 2020, 11 a.m. at St. John’s Cemetery in Escalon, CA.
