Sharon Rix Murchison passed away peacefully on April 17, 2021. She was born and raised in Detroit, MI by the late Isabel and John Rix.
Sharon was proud to be a Delta Gamma at Michigan State. She married Charles Lee Chesney and moved to California in 1957. They raise two daughters during their 21 year marriage. After earning her bachelor’s degree at CSUS, Sharon loved her career teaching home economics at the junior college level. Later in life, she had a successful career as a real estate broker in both Sacramento, California and Silverdale, Washington. She married Craig Bruce Murchison in 1980 and they enjoyed 35 years of marriage until his passing in 2015.
Sharon leaves behind her brother, Richard Rix of Plainwell, MI and her daughters, Dawn (John) Chesney of Oakland, CA and Marla (Bill) Nunes of Manteca, CA.
The family is immensely grateful to all who provided care for her at The Commons at Union Ranch, especially those in the Memory Care unit who loved her as if she was their own mom. Additionally, we want to thank the phenomenal people at LifeGuard Hospice. Sharon valued education greatly and believed that every child should be given a chance to be successful.
