Terence “Terry” Richard Sonsky, 51, died on Saturday, February 20. Terry was born in Cleveland, Ohio to parents Helen and Henry Sonsky. He was the youngest of three boys, Larry, Gary, and Terry. His parents never lacked a sense of humor, nor did Terry. His parents and brother Larry preceded him in death.

Terry was a member of the Salida Christian Fellowship. His hobbies included traveling, golf, gardening, fishing, target practice, and riding his Harley on a nice day. However, he particularly enjoyed entertaining and barbecuing for family and friends.

Terry is survived by and will be deeply missed by his loving family members including his wife, Karen; children, Matt Sonsky of Ripon, Carrie (Brian) Coleman of North Carolina, David (Sara) Sanchez of Modesto, Maria (Mark) Speake of Modesto, and grandchildren, Zoey, age 10, Uriah, age 8 months, and Samuel (expected in March); brother, Gary Sonsky of Mesa, Arizona, uncle and aunt Carl and Dorothy Sosinski, aunt Helen Sosinski and niece, Shannon Sonsky all of Ohio. He will also be missed by his parents-in-law, Robert and Dianne Powell of Washington, brothers and sisters-in-law Bob and Kathy Powell and their 7 children, and Tim and Barb Fairbanks and their 4 children all of California.

Terry enjoyed working in Software Quality Management for various employers in the Bay Area for nearly 20 years. More recently, however, he went to work locally in management for the Manteca Police Department. He enjoyed this particular job very much, and especially the 10 minute vs. 2 hour commute to work.

Terry was a very patriotic man. He was active in the Air Force for four years in Nevada and in the Army Reserves for two years locally. He was also an active member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

A memorial service will be held at Salida Christian Fellowship, 4936 Washington St., Salida, on Saturday, March 6, at noon, with a luncheon to follow.

The family asks that if desired, a gift in Terry’s name be donated to the Alexander Cohen Hospice House,, 2201 Euclid Ave., Hughson, CA 95326, (209) 578-6380. Flowers will also be much appreciated for the memorial shift.
