Theodore (Ted) Charles Viss went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 12, 2018. Ted was born on August 3, 1938 in Modesto, California, to Theodore and Drucilla (Pasma) Viss.
He attended Ripon Christian Schools for all twelve years. He then served our country as a Navy Airman. He married his sweetheart, Jane Veenstra on October 17, 1958. They were blessed with almost 60 years of marriage. The Lord blessed them with four children, eleven grand- children and six great- grandchildren along with three more to be born this year.
Over the years, Ted worked as a farmer, in tree management services, as a car salesman, a solar salesman, as well as a deputy sheriff transporting prisoners by airplane. He was a charter and faithful member of Almond Valley Christian Reformed Church. He and Jane enjoyed traveling through all 50 states, through Canada, and camping in the Sierras. Ted was a regular at My Garden Café enjoying coffee with his buddies and visiting with the staff there who were like family to him. Ted is survived by his wife, Jane, children, Ted Viss III (Renee) of Modesto, Alana (Brandi) of Auburn, Washington, Scott (Karen) of Ripon, and Denise of Sparks, Nevada. Grandchildren Kelly Viss (John), Sandra Mason (Caleb), Stacy Van Dyk (Casey), Jef Viss (Marissa), Kerrie Sturgeon (Trevor), Janeen Dykxhoorn (Daniel), Corey Viss, Joel Viss, Jacob Viss, Sera Ford (Tyler) and Ethan Ford; great-grandchildren Cassidy, Trent and Josiah Mason, Tyce and Zane Van Dyk and Kash Viss; and sisters, Rebecca Lewi (Rudy) of Redmond, Oregon and Deborah Bailey (Jim) of Central Point, Oregon.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, April 18, at 2:00 p.m. at the Almond Valley Christian Reformed Church.
