Born December 1, 1925 in Toledo, Ohio, Thomas Printy de Bord, 93 entered into rest surrounded by family on January 24, 2019. Tom, as he was known to family and friends, was a Manteca resident for more than 33 years. He is preceded in death by his five siblings, his parents and his adored daughter Janine Hughes. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Therese (Tess) Catalano de Bord, children; Denise de Bord of Manteca, Nanette Papiernik (husband David) of Colorado, Gregory de Bord (wife Teresa) of Livermore, Camille Phelps (husband Thomas) of Livermore, Vivienne Rogers (husband Michael) of Livermore, Matthew de Bord (wife Romy) of Washington and son-in-law Craig Hughes of Manteca. Tom was blessed by eleven grandchildren; Adam Hughes, Amanda Hughes, Thomas Papiernik, Levi Papiernik, Kaylene de Bord, Sarah de Bord, Kyle de Bord, Brian Rogers, Kevin Rogers, Keenan de Bord and Isabel de Bord. He was honored to be the patriarch of the large extended family of de Bord nieces, nephews, and cousins in recent years.  
  Tom proudly served his country through the United States Army Air Corps in WW II as a flight engineer on B29 bombers. When the war ended, he pursued his education at Hartnell Junior College in Salinas, CA and Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. During his 30-year career with Metropolitan Life Insurance, Tom worked in Salinas, Oakland, and the San Francisco Western Region Head Office. He rose from insurance sales agent through positions of increasing responsibility until his retirement in 1982 as Supervisor of Banking & Customer Relations for 14 western states. During his career, he was a resident of the Monterey Peninsula area and Castro Valley where he and Tess raised their family.
  Following retirement, Tom relocated to Manteca where he was an active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, serving the Society of St. Vincent de Paul for over 25 years as a volunteer, past secretary and president. He avidly researched de Bord family genealogy and achieved a lifelong goal of publishing a book on his work for his many relatives to treasure. He loved traveling all over the U.S. and to many foreign countries. Tom was an avid fan of all sports, and especially enjoyed cheering for his favorite Ohio State Buckeyes. He was extremely proud of his family and loved them dearly. Tom will be remembered as a loving husband, father, uncle and grandfather. He will be deeply missed.         
  P.L. Fry is honored to serve the de Bord family.  A memorial mass will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 525 E. North Street, Manteca, CA. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, 17871 Carrolton Road, Escalon, CA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Vincent De Paul, 525 E. North Street, Manteca, CA or the Susan G.
