Virgil Arland Small Jr. of Manteca passed away on November 6, 2013 of natural causes.  He was 83.  A native of Oakland, Virgil grew up in Hayward and attended Hayward High School.  He served his country as a U.S. Navy Seabee during the Korean Conflict. He participated at both the Inchon landing and the evacuation after the Battle of Chosin Reservoir.  Afterward, he made his living as a commercial roofer.  He was an avid motorcyclist and part of several motorcycle organizations over the years including the Question Marks, Buda Brothers, Sierra Road Riders, and ABATE.  Later in life, Virgil was a Charter Member of the MadDoggers, a social club dedicated to having a good time. Virgil was involved in a commercial roofing accident in 1971 which left him wearing a leg brace for a majority of his life.  Nevertheless, it never kept him from being active into his final years, including riding his specially modified  motorcycle or his Harley Servicar.
   Virgil was preceded in death by his father Virgil Sr., mother Doris Creegen Bedross, stepmother Angela, and brother Edward Jordan.       Virgil is survived by his wife Bonnie, sons; Steven (Pat), Kenny, David (Sheryl), and Glenn (Liisa), daughter Lisa, grandsons Marc, Robert, Corey, Grant, and Jimmy, granddaughters; Juliann and Jackie, great-grandson Ben, and his faithful canine pal Max.
   The family would like to offer thanks to all the staff from Community Hospice.
   A celebration and toast will be held in his honor at the 133 Club in Manteca (133 W. Yosemite) on November 23rd @ 3:00 pm.
