Virgil Luther Hitts, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and dear friend, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at the age of 94.

He was born in the town of Napoleon, Ohio, to the late Gust and Hannah Hitts.

He was hired as a welder for Libby Owens Ford Glass Co. (LOF) in Ohio. In 1963, he transferred to a new LOF facility in Lathrop, CA and in 1979, retired as a department foreman.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, JoAnne Hitts, of CA; his son, Russell Hitts, of OH; his daughters, Patricia Zook, Pamela DeCastro & Lisa Anderson of CA; and Cynthia Pergerson of OR; his sister, Marion Smith of MI; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Rick Clark; his brothers, Waldo, Frank, Kenneth & Orr Hopkins; his sisters, Betty Rowe, Connie Molitz & Berdena Sautter; and his grandson, Kevin Zook.

Viewing and funeral services will be held at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson, CA
