Virginia (Jinny) Evelyn Corey, 65, longtime Ripon resident, passed away unexpectedly in Maui, HI, while on vacation on Monday, February 15. She was born September 22, 1945  in Bell, CA. She spent her youth in the Southern Califonria area and graduated from Bonita High School in 1963. After high school, she moved to the Bay Area where she worked for Kodak and volunteered at Ruskin Elementary School.

In 1986, she moved to Ripon and lived there  for 24 years, where she worked for Ripon Unified School District as a teacher’s aide and for Qualex.   

Jinny was a member of the Immanuel Christian Reformed Church and was active in the Coffee Break Bible Study group and other activities with the church. She also enjoyed spending  time with her family and friends, traveling with her husband, reading books, and watching NASCAR and other sports. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.  

She is survived by her husband  of 37 years, Thomas Corey of Ripon; daughters, Valerie (Jim) Lopes of  Elk Grove, CA and Kelly Corey of Peoria, AZ,; grandsons, Austin and Dylan Lopes of Elk Grove, and sisters, Cindy, Debbie and Loretta. She was  preceded in death by her mother, father and sister Jamie.  

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 21, at Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel, 111 S. Palm  Ave, Ripon, CA from 1 to 5 p.m. A private family burial will be held at Burwood Cemetery, Escalon, on Monday, February 22. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February  22, at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church, 517 Orange Ave, Ripon,  CA.
