Walter Evert Sanborn, Sr., 72, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010 in Manteca, after a long, hard-fought battle with COPD emphysema. He was born Nov. 21, 1937 in Stockton to Evert and Mildred Sanborn.

He served with honor in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1963. He retired from PG&E after 35 years. Before his illness took over, he was an active member of the Stockton Men’s Bowling Assn., having been past president. He also was inducted into the SMBA Hall of Fame and was a SMBA Life Member. He was a past member of PSEA Golf Club.

Mr. Sanborn is survived by his wife of 30 years, Catherine Sanborn; children, Cork (Sandi) Sanborn, Deanna (Jay) Ball, Brad (Jenell) Norgard, Denise (Dave) Zizzo; and sister, Carol Peluso; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Monday, July 5, at 10 a.m. at DeYoung Memorial Chapel, 601 N. California St., Stockton. There will be no visitation. Burial will be private.
