Wanda Adanel Cary

WANDA CARY PICTURE BW

Wanda Wert was born to parents Ethel and William in Waterville, Washington.   Wanda has always been a strong and independent person.  During her early years she rode a horse five miles every day to grammar school. She was the youngest of seven, and she was the only girl. As anyone with older brothers knows, she was tormented relentlessly, but all in good fun.  A favorite story involves her being tied to a wagon wheel and rolled down a hill.
Wanda was on her own at the age 13. She attended high school in both Tracy and Modesto, all the while grading papers for her teachers to earn money.  Living by her wits and courageous spirit, she sucessfully graduated high school.  After high school she began working for Tillie Lewis Cannery.  Wanda married Preston Vincent Cary and they were married  for 36 years.  Preston Senior died at the age of 56.
Wanda passed  away  at   the age of 94. She is survived  by four children, Preston,  Catharine, Larry, and  Robert. She has 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.  Wanda enjoyed playing Pinochle and watching football and golf with her family and friends.  She is known for  her generous spirit, warm laugh, and love for dancing. Wanda was definitely the matriarch of the family and will be dearly missed.
A celebration of life open house, will be held Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Brighter Side Restaurant, 1125 K Street, Modesto, CA at 2 p.m. until. There will be dancing!  Go 49ers!
