William Chavez Derma Jr. of Manteca passed away on August 25, 2010 in Salida, CA at the age of 71. William was born on April 18, 1939 in El Paso, Texas, and has been a resident of Manteca for the past 52 years.

William was drafted into the US Army shortly after completing high school, and was stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington. He was the owner and operator of Derma Trucking for 46 years, and a farmer of walnuts and almonds for 35 years. William was also the founder and president of C.L.E.A.R, the California Latinos for Effective Air Regulations.

William was preceded in death by his father, William Derma, and his wife Nancy Derma, who passed away in 1999. His is survived by his children: Bill Derma of Manteca, Shawn Derma of Modesto, Les Derma of Port Angeles, WA, and Dustin Derma and his wife Melissa of Port Angeles, WA; his mother Saturnina Derma of Tehachapi, CA; his brother Carlos Derma of Tehachapi, CA; his sisters Emma Dain and her husband Harold, and Alice Morris, both of Tehachapi, CA; 14 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service for William will be held on Friday September 3, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Park View Cemetery, 3661 E. French Camp Road, Manteca. A celebration of life will follow at 5656 E. Verigan Road, off the South 99 frontage road in between Lathrop Road and French Camp Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the funeral of William can be made to Dustin Derma, 1313 Georgian Street, Port Angeles, WA 98362. Arrangements are being handled by Park View Funeral Home, 3661 E. French Camp Road, Manteca.
