   William N. Freer, known as Bill by friends, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at the age of 77.  

   He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Grace, brother; Vada, and daughters; Staci (Jerry) Schilz of Arcadia, Glenda (Tim) Dierdorff of Sacramento, Cara Huston and Sharie (Fred) Ware of Manteca, and one son, Jason (Corina) Lloyd of Utah as well as grandchildren, Tim, Rachel (Wesley), Mathew, McKenzie, McKayla, James, Bonnie, Caleb, and Elijah and two greatgrandsons, Jace and Samuel.

   Bill was a hard worker, loyal friend, and dedicated father, and grandfather who loved fishing, hunting big game, watching NHRA races (go Force Racing) and spending time with friends and family.  He served over 20 years in the California National Guard and operated 

B & M Towing in Manteca for 37 years before retiring to focus on his grandchildren and farming.  Bill was never one to sit still for long, and if not in the orchard or garden he would usually be found baking or canning.  

Bill was a life member of the Manteca Horsemen’s Association and California State Horsemen’s Association, and member of the San Joaquin County Horsemen’s Association, California Tow Truck Association, Alumni of the National Guard, and devoted many hours to their service.  He cherished time spent with family and friends at horse and 4H events including the County Fair and especially relished attending concerts, and events in which his grandchildren were involved.

    Arrangements are being handled by Park View Mortuary.  Visitation will be from 3 pm to 6 pm on Friday, August 15, 2014.  Chapel Services will be on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 10:30 am with burial following.  Everyone is encouraged to join the family for a celebration of his life at the family home following the service.
