Wolena Smink died peacefully and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the age of 94 years.

She was born in Platte, South Dakota, to Arent & Johanna Wever.  In 1931, she moved to Ripon, CA with her family.  After doing various jobs for a few years she married John Smink.  They lived several places and did a variety of things before settling on North Ripon Road where they eventually planted an almond orchard and lived for 40 years.

Wolena was always very active in church activities.  In addition to her home-making skills she especially enjoyed gardening, traveling and reading.  She loved to crochet and after moving to Bethany Home Manor Apartments, she continued this hobby by making lap robes for Warm-up America.

She was preceded in death by her husband John, son Arnold, and brother John Wever.  She leaves one granddaughter, Kimberly Johnson of Redding, CA, sister Adriana Roubos (Del) of Alameda, CA, and brother Bernard Wever (Wilma) of Ripon.  She also leaves several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 10, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 11, at 11:00 am at Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel. Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a charity of your choice.  Arrangements by Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel with an online guest book available at www.deganfuneralchapels.com
