What are you doing this weekend?
Imagine you drive across town and you spot a secret lush garden peeking through a fence. You would really want to open the gate and walk in, but it obviously belongs to someone. Well, your chance to visit six of the most beautiful gardens in Manteca is here. On Saturday, May 9, Manteca Garden Club Tour will take you to several hidden paradises. You will see woodland-style gardens that look like a rich jungle, but an example of more formal gardening. Learn a thing or two about starting your own garden or how to create a drought-resistant landscaping. Tickets are available in Manteca at several locations such as Delicato Vineyards, Ed’s Rockery or Manteca Visitors Center at the Promenade Shops at Orchard Valley. Price: $15 Learn more at http://www.mantecabulletin.com/section/1/article/123595/
Dancing with the Stars is not only for Hollywood. Local personalities will woo you with their moves during Dancing with the Tracy Stars at the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts (715 Central Avenue, Tracy) on Saturday, May 9, from 7:30 p.m. Six of Tracy’s famous (if they were not famous before, they will be definitely famous after their performance) community members are paired up with professional ballroom dancers and they will show you the results of their hard, week-long training. You will participate by voting for your favorite and send one of the dancers home with a coveted mirror ball trophy. Sounds like fun! Price: $25-$49. It’s not a coincidence that the 4th annual Best Ride Ever Ride is planned for May – May is the National Bike Month and the second week of May is also Bike to Work Week. You don’t have to bike to work, however, because the bike ride hosted by the San Joaquin Bike Coalition and Lange Twins Winery will go through many wineries and wonderful nature spots. You have three routes to consider. First one is a calm 22-mile route through wineries of Acampo and Woodbridge; the second is a 100-kilometer route through the Lodi wine country, Cosumnes River Preserve and the historic town of Clements. Finally, the third route is only for brave riders who want to make a 100-mile loop around Lake Camanche and tackle 2,500 feet of elevation. Pick the one that suits your skills the best and meet with fellow biking enthusiasts at Lange Twins Winery (1525 E Jahant Road, Acampo) on Saturday, May 9, at 6 a.m. Price: $35
