What are you doing this weekend?

Can you imagine that a reading and literacy event will fill a whole arena? Well, on Friday, April 24, you can witness it first-hand. The Library and Literacy Foundation’s 24th annual Trivia Bee will be held at the Stockton Arena (248 W Fremont Street). This years’ theme is “The 60’s – BEE There or BEE Square.” Local community members answer numerous super hard trivia questions and compete for the coveted Bobble Head Trophy while raising funds for children’s literacy programs. You, the audience, will cheer them on, eat dinner, and compete on your own in a silent auction and raffle. Yay for literacy!

Price: $25 (includes dinner) Learn more here: http://sjcliteracy.org/events.htm

Another “Bee”, but this time of a different kind. Bee Aware is this year’s theme for the Stockton Earth Day Festival, set for Sunday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Victory Park (North Pershing Avenue and Argonne Drive). The festival is in its 27th year of education, conservation, recycling, and bringing awareness to the most pressing environmental issues. This year it’s all about bees, the little fuzzy-kneed workers and how they impact our life. Besides bees, there will be a lively blend of music and dance, yoga at the park, family fun bike ride and you can also bring canned or boxed food and slightly used clothes to donate.
