A bit of trivia about Spreckels Sugar

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
Excellent article on the homeless and lawless homeless (Our view) Don’t let lawless homeless slowly destroy Manteca” — Wednesday, March 20.
My concern is about the Spreckels Sugar sign was displayed on the south end of the plant. It read “Spreckels Honey Dew Sugar”. The Honey Dew was dropped when that was dissolved. Then the sign was taken down and placed at the north end entrance at the plant (over the access road.)
A bit of trivia:  The sign was designed and built by American Neon Company in Oakland.
My grandfather blew glass for the signs. My uncle was a partner of the company.
I also worked at Spreckels Sugar for 16 years. When working on the beet end, I either turn the breaker on at night or off at sunrise.
