I read with great interest your column in Wednesday’s Bulletin relative to your first and most recent experience with the DMV.

First, I’d like to thank you for your comments relating to efficiencies at the DMV. Things certainly have changed since your initial visit when you were a teenager. Customer service is something that the department takes seriously, and we thank you for pointing that out.

It’s easy for the media to do “gotcha” type stories on state agencies. At the DMV, we serve more than 30 million customers a year statewide. While we’re not perfect, we strive in that direction as enhanced customer service is a core goal of ours.
