Appreciates people helping get her stolen purse back

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
On Saturday, Jan. 2, at approximately 7 p.m.  I was in the process of putting my groceries in my vehicle at Raley’s when a young man ran by and took my purse out of the cart and took off.

I am a stay at home mom in my mid 40s and unfortunately not in the best of shape but I started running after him anyway and I was screaming at the top of my lungs for him to stop. He got into the passenger side of a vehicle that was parked at Kragen and took off.

In the mean time my phone had flown out of the purse as the “suspect” was running. A very nice man who had been near the Japanese restaurant not only picked up the pieces of my phone but tried in vain to read the license on the vehicle as it was driving away. I walked back to my vehicle in tears, and people came out of nowhere to help me.

The police arrived in less than 10 minutes (my guess) while he was taking our statements another officer on the other side of town called to say they caught the men that did this! Someone followed them from the Raley’s parking lot all the way to Denny’s and called it in. They caught the men before they were able to use any of my credit cards or cash (all $4 of it). A lot of people helped me that night and I can only feel grateful and thankful for them.
