Calls letter against women paratroopers chauvinistic

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
Being a young woman in the 1960s reminded me of the term “male chauvinist pig.” That is what I thought after reading Steve Catalano’s letter dated April 28. I find it hard to believe that there are still men out there that think of women as second class citizens.

If Caitlin Jones wants to be a paratrooper and can pass the same training as any man, she deserves to become a paratrooper. I’m sure there are some “G.I. Jane’s” out there that can be as good as any man. I’m also sure that all men out there aren’t “John Wayne” and are not able to pass the training.

My husband was in the 82nd Airborne and agrees with me. He said the training is extremely difficult and if a woman can pass, she deserves to be a paratrooper.

Thank God all men aren’t “chauvinist.”
