Carlon Perry, Jack Snyder, Gary Singh, & Charlie Halford among council possibilities

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,

After completing the transfer of power to the new council members at the Manteca City Council meeting on Dec. 2, it did not take long for the “band wagon express” to roll into action. All aboard, as the old saying goes.

Marty Harris and Brenda Franklin both made speeches to the new council members who were elected — Mike Morowit and Richard Silverman as well as new Mayor Steve DeBrum. They both pleaded their case to appoint Vince Hernandez to finish out the two remaining years on DeBrum’s council term. Since Harris and Franklin were big supporters of Hernandez, both listed dozens of “goody, goody” things Hernandez did to get their support.

Franklin named dozens of downtown supporters who she says want Hernandez appointed.

Hernandez should not be appointed. It is time for all new faces on this council.

There are several good people to consider to finish this two-year term: Former Mayor Carlon Perry. former Police Chief Charlie Halford, former Councilman Jack Snyder, and current Planning Commission member Gary Singh.

Hernandez was voted off the council. It is time for Hernandez to drop out. New people are needed.

This is long overdue: Out with the old and in with the new.

There are many things that are needed in this town. The streets and sidewalks are in deplorable condition. The older section of town has been neglected for 50 years. It most likely will be neglected for another 50 years for things like curbs, gutters, and sidewalks. A $700,000 ball park for Little league senior play, which was not needed, was more important than the upkeep of other things. Police and fire both need additional manpower. When is this going to happen?
