Community steps up to help struggling families

Manteca Unified School District Health Services would like to thank the wonderful members of the Soroptimist Club of Manteca, again!  It’s Christmas and we have many families needing additional support at this time of year.

Soroptimist International of Manteca was again willing to coordinate the Christmas Wishes Program. Once again Betty Ingell and Sharon Cunial matched families with volunteer agencies, organizations, and individuals that adopted families and are providing items to fulfill the Christmas Dreams of more than 251 children. Fifty more children were adopted this year!  Thank you to the entire Manteca Community. We live in such a wonderful community of caring people!

 We hope we haven’t forgotten anyone but we thank and extend our most sincere appreciation on behalf of Manteca Unified’s families to: Steve Parsons and Love, Inc. for compiling the database and verifying all the information.

Those who adopted the following number of families or children: Delicato Winery Employees, 75 children; Northgate Community Church, 35 children; Lathrop Christian Center, 40 children; Manteca Federated Women, 3 children; Ed & Dolores Cardoza Family, 15 children; Ability Mortgage and the Realty Boards of Ripon and Manteca,15 children; Premier Credit Union, 20 children; Manteca Police Department, several generous individual officers, 12 children; Manteca Unified School District Office Employee, 1 family; MUSD –East Union High School Ag Dept. 1 family; MUSD East Union High School Life Skills, 1 family; MUSD Nutrition Services, 2 families (6 children); MUSD Sierra High School, 2 families; Angles Salon, 1 family; Secrets Salon,1 family; Manteca Morning Rotary, 12 children; Red Hat Society, 10 children; Marion Thibodeau and Marion Oliver, 3 children; and Joyce Riolo, hand-made quilted items.

MUSD Health Services also thanks all of the MUSD school sites for submitting names, collecting data from families and relaying information.  We very much appreciate those persons who called wishing to donate.  Thank you all so much for making Christmas special for so many.
