Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
I appreciate the fact that the Bulletin stands up for Constitutional principles.
The Constitution, in the past, has brought America the greatest prosperity and freedom the world has known. The checks and balances in the Constitution stood as a powerful roadblock to tyranny of any kind. Now this roadblock seems to be breaking down, as our country seems to be sliding into moral decay.
John Adams said, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other.” Benjamin Franklin said, “Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom,” as did the Declaration of Independence signer Benjamin Rush, when he said, “Without virtue there is no liberty.”
If America can get back to our moral foundations, we may have a chance to save our country.
