Emergency services literally save lives
letter to editor

 Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
I find it very interesting that any group would be against Measure A to support the Ripon Consolidated Fire District.
In 1994 I was 59 years old. At that time I had an office in Columbia. One morning at about 7 a.m., I slumped  over on my desk and was told later I had been found on the floor.  My employee called 911 and started giving me CPR. Several days later, I awoke in Modesto where i underwent triple bypass surgery.
Even though emergency services in Columbia were not as good as today’s Ripon Consolidated Fire District, if it wasn’t for the Columbia Fire Department I would not be here today. That incident changed my life and my attitude toward emergency services forever.
I sincerely hope that the Ripon community will support the fire district’s need to staff Station No. 3 on River Road and North Ripon Road with firefighters 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
