George Rose family appreciates outpouring

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
The family of George S. Rose, Jr. sends this open heart-felt letter to all of the many, many people that supported us through this difficult time. The prayers, kind words, expressions of sympathy, and all the many gestures of love were overwhelming.

Dr. Peter Garbeff became more than a doctor. He became a friend. The expertise and skills of Dr. Aminder S. Mehdi, Dr. Annette Seiler, and Dr. Matthew Coates were given with loving care. The staff of St. Joseph’s Medical Center on the 4th Floor West were exceptional. Krissy even bought George a 4-pack of Lipton Ice Tea!

During this trying journey we had loving and caring support from MHS’s staff and students, Sequoia School, St. Anthony’s Church, Mary McCleary, Sister Anne, P.L. Fry & Son, Joellen Faias, Charla Ortiz, Scott Gatze, Ken Summers, Tommie Taberna, friends and relatives.

We send a special thank you to the anonymous bank depositor. Your generous deposit was greatly appreciated and we are forever grateful.

George did battle bladder cancer for 5 years. Cancer doesn’t care who you are or what you have been doing. George had another cancer called signet ring cell adenocarcinoma. It is a silent cancer that sneaks up on you. He entered the hospital (always wanting to come home) on Feb. 27, 2009. George was never to return to his earthly home which we greatly regret. He left us on March 22, 2009.

George has left us with a beautiful legacy. The best way to keep his memory alive is to do something kind for someone when they least expect it.

Our love and gratitude go out to everyone who loved George and helped us during this difficult time.
