Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
Having been unavailable for a few days, I seem to have at least two or three letters that need some response, maybe not, giving who the writer is of two letters and his, by now, well known reputation of kneeling at the altar of all things Trump so I won’t hover around his submissions for very long.
First let’s put this one straight on facts, (“Why did Mueller place all Democrats on team”) April 16 by6 Dan Buckman. The writer stated he was just “ . . . looking for a true answer”. Well that’s simple enough, Mueller didn’tplace all Democrats on the “team”. Mueller himself is a Republican, as is his boss, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, appointed to that position by Trump himself. I hope that is the “true answer” Mr. Buckman was looking for. Somehow I don’t think he will be satisfied since he obviously picked all that up from Trump himself who has also made that same statement even knowing it was false, but that has never stopped Trump from just making stuff up, has it?
Talking about just making stuff up, (“Trump’s economic success”) April 12 by Frank Aquila is a case in point. Aquila goes on and on about how fantastic Trump has been in the last 15 months or so. (I know, to most people, it seems like 15 years) If you count the time by lies told by Trump, the NY Times put it at over 2k lies or exaggerations and listed them all. (It took a full page), you can understand why it seems so long.
What made me smile was his last claim (Gas prices are the lowest in 12 years). I just filled up my Hummer at Costco today and $85 for 3/4 of a tank didn’t seem that low. Anyway, that was just one of his claims.
I wonder if Aquila is aware that Trump’s world is collapsing, Mueller is closing in, the porn star has him on the run, his lawyer just got raided by the FBI, they found tapes and proof he was in Russian in 2016 after his denial that ever happened, Comey has a book out, and the Comey notes have foolishly been put out in public by his own Republican Congress. Trump tries to deflect all that by bombing Syria but not before he gives Syria and the Russians three days warning so they can move all their stuff out of the way which causes the Trump bombs to blow up mostly empty buildings. Russia now claims they picked the targets allowed for Trump to hit, not a big surprise. Nicki Haley comes on National TV on the following Friday and claims new big Russian sanctions will be announced the following Monday. Monday comes around and Trump has changed all of that, claiming Haley is “confused”. Haley shoots back “I don’t get confused.”
Now I have no idea why Aquila submitted (“Is the Bible word of God”) on March 28. Frank Aquila. Maybe he had a good day at Bible school, maybe he wanted to reassure himself he had the right book. In any case it struck me as somewhat hypocritical, giving his unwavering support for someone like Trump who is virtually without a moral compass. This makes Aquila in lockstep with Evangelicals who support Trump by 75%. Doonsbury said it best . . . Apparently, Aquila and those Evangelicals have decided to change what previously constituted Sin in the eyes of their Church. Apparently now Aquila and the Evangelical Church will condone lewdness, vulgarity, profanity, adultery and sexual assault. Exemptions also will apparently include Greed, bullying, conspiring, boasting, lying, cheating, sloth, envy, wrath, gluttony and pride. Not to mention overlooking Biblical Illiteracy, Church Non-Attendance and no Credible sign of faith. Hell, I feel like a Saint, don’t you?
