How about town hall meetings?

Editor, Manteca Bulletin:

I have been unable to attend a Manteca City Council meeting since the so-called “new” council was sworn in, but hope to attend the next one. It is very disappointing to hear that the “new” council seems to be following in the footsteps of the “old” council. Oh wait! Aren’t three of the members from the “old” regime?

The appointing of Vince Hernandez, for whom approximately 71% of the voters did not vote, just shows me that the City Council does not care about what we the people want. I feel as if they have decided that we are the children and they are the parents and know what is best for us.

As for the Great Wolf project, I can’t for the life of me understand why people would come to stay at a resort in Manteca. What is there to offer outside of the resort other than Bass Pro and that wouldn’t warrant more than one night if even that. Big League Dreams is an overnighter and many of those parents are trying to raise a family and don’t have the money to stay at a resort.

Since I’m “venting” I would like to bring into question the City Council policy of being able to speak at a council meeting but not being able to ask them a question. I think we should be able to question the people we elected. If it cannot be at the council meeting then I think we should have a monthly Town Hall Q&A.

On my “bucket list” I now have 3 new items: 1) To occasionally see some “no” votes from the City Council, 2) To see Town Hall meetings, 3) To see an entirely new City Council not just two new members.
