Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
Having attended a meeting for the poll workers recently we were told that approximately 60 percent of voters “vote by mail.” We were also told voting by mail with the envelope provided requires 71 cents postage. That fact is stated in the instructions but I wonder why the envelope does not specify “additional postage required” which is the case in greeting cards if they are oversized or overweight.
If the county is willing to pay the extra 21 cents on all envelopes that do not have the proper postage to assure that “every vote counts” why not provide postage paid envelopes or at the very least indicate “additional postage required” when the election has two or more ballots per person. I seriously doubt that the cost of printing that information exceeds 21 cents
