I appreciated your article:  “Carnage on the Bypass”.
There are certainly those in Manteca that do the “death merge” noted in your article but it seems the majority of those doing last minute lane changes are those with Ripon/Modesto/further south 99 destinations. 
Hopefully your article will be picked up by newspapers in those locales so that many of the guilty parties at least become aware of what their poor driving habits may lead to.
And it wouldn’t hurt if Caltrans also received a copy.
