Manteca failed to react to declining enrollment

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
You missed the mark on this one (Dennis Wyatt column on Sept. 1: “Manteca Unified: Why is it now faring worse than some nearby districts?”).  Most districts in the area did have class size reduction and most continue to have it in some form.  Manteca Unified is in bad shape because it failed to react to declining enrollment (thus the high school issue) and the state’s fiscal crisis that started over 24 months ago.

By failing to recognize these two very important issues quickly enough the district burned through a very healthy ending balance that once existed in Manteca.

My daughter-in-law was one of the teachers that was let go.
