Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
As chairman of the Manteca Patriots, let me provide a few facts to set the story straight with respect to Alisen Kona’s letter of June 27.
Contrary to her assertions, we are not affiliated with any political party. We are a nonpartisan group and invite people affiliated with any party, or none at all, to join us for this free talk, and any of the ones we host every second and fourth Thursday, 7:30 p.m. at Chez Shari. We often have people jump to the conclusion that we are partisan and perhaps that is because most of the Tea Party groups absolutely are. We are not. We chose to affiliate with the Tea Party Patriots who believe that all Americans should be able to work together around three core values of fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government, and free markets.
So while each member of our leadership team has their own level of political engagement and affiliation, and are free to be out exercising their individual passions in the political arenas, we as a group have been deliberate to be nonpartisan and work on trying to find common ground across the parties. In fact, our most recent speaker was Rosa Koire from Democrats Against U.N. Agenda 21 as she spoke on Property Rights on June 8 (we hosted a special event worked around her schedule). I will say that we have had trouble engaging local Democrat groups to work with us, even when our speaker was an unabashed liberal Democrat. Perhaps I haven’t yet found the right folks to connect with and would love to hear from more non Republicans that would like to engage with us in line with our core values.
You can read more about us and our past speakers at: http://mantecapatriots.org/
I hope you’ll join us tonight and see if we can find common ground on this and the many other issues that do indeed deserve a nonpartisan response.
Chairman, Manteca Patriots
