Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
I also agree with Art Smith about the site of the Memorial Day event not being held at the East Union Cemetery. I’m a Past Commander of American Legion Post 249 and a Vietnam veteran.
I have volunteered on a few occasions to dig graves and clean up grave sites of veterans who are buried at the cemetery. I have seen the graves of veterans from the Civil War up to more recently that are buried there. There are so many veterans that need to be honored on Memorial Day at East Union Cemetery, not any place but where they are buried at their final resting place. We can honor them with a flag and pay our respect to the men and women who served our country. Some gave everything to make America free. Memorial Day ceremonies need to take place nowhere else but East Union Cemetery. I have talked to many veterans, and they also agree with me.
Thank you and see you on Memorial Day at East Union cemetery with many other veterans.
