Editor, Manteca Bulletin,
William Walter Nichols murdered Susan Mendrin and my son, Michael McDonaldon, Sept. 13, 1983 on my son’s front porch. Nichols has now served 27 years of his 25 to life sentence. There is a good chance he could be released. He has been a model prisoner.
Thanks to all of you wonderful people who are working on petitions and who have written letters to the prison. It really warms our hearts for the response we have received from all of you. Together, I’m hoping and praying we can keep this monster in prison where he can never harm another person.
It is very hard for us to attend the hearing and look at the face of the man who so brutally murdered our son, but the Parole Board has told us it does really help for us to be there. This will be the 4th hearing we have attended.
We will be collecting the petitions about April 9. We make copies of them and send them to the prison. The parole board starts reviewing the petitions and letters about two weeks before the hearing which is on May 11.
So, if you haven’t written yet it’s still not too late!
To write to the parole board, it can be a short note just stating this man should never be released from prison, write to:
