Outrageous Mexican trucks dont have to follow same rules

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,

In response to Wednesday’s column in the Manteca Bulletin headlined “Mexican trucks are on our roads’, written by Phyllis Schlafly, President Obama had no right to go against Congress and the opposition of the American people, to go behind his country’s back and secretly have Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood sign an agreement that allows Mexican trucks to cross the border and steal jobs, enterprise and money from the American people.

To allow the trucks to cross freely without being inspected is scandalous and completely outrageous, not to mention that our tax dollars from our hard-earned cash that we put our lives, sweat, and blood into is used. To outfit these illegal immigrants’ rigs with Electronic On-Board Recorders with global positioning capabilities, is contemptible and on top of that U.S. trucks must install similar equipment at their own expense. This is simply barbaric!

The U.S.- Mexico agreement states that these truck drivers don’t even have to obtain a U.S. drivers license. Do they expect us to allow illegal immigrants with no license, training, drug testing, physical requirements, truck safety inspection or brake standards that match U.S. rules, to drive on our roads, bring who knows what across our borders and sell it to the American people? Trying to help out foreign countries is a good thing. I mean, hey, I definitely believe in foreign aid but, only if you have the right motives and take the right precautions and procedures, but clearly this is not what President Obama has in mind. How can you take care of other countries when you can’t even take care of your own?
